Could the administration and the FDA have done better, acted quicker? Certainly! But what’s happening is vested interests under the guise of “changing the world” is using this opportunity to say, “See! This is why we should deregulate!”

I understand that the most strategically crucial industry in the US is the industry of defaming the tech industry ;) I don't see a looming invasion of snake oil if the regulations of the FDA are cut back to the level of countries with healthcare systems that are not broken.

Btw I think that most of the harsher criticism of Silicon Valley comes from people trying to get a piece of the cake. I sincerely believe that the US tech industry is beneficial, both economically and culturally, for the USA and for the world, and as German I am very jealous.

you could partake in a dinner and be critical about the food you're eating. Of course, that's not going to please the hosts. Also, being critical of one dish is not the same as being critical of the host's cooking ability in general.

Being critical of the tech industry in general strikes me as a about as productive as being critical of restaurants in general. If you want to use a computer, a smartphone, social media, PyTorch, a decent electric car you depend on the tech industry.

why is complaining about a specific aspect of the tech industry same as blanket “being critical of the tech industry”? I don’t understand why you would make such generalizations but Twitter is also not the place to resolve this. Happy to zoom with you on this

Delip is acting with an extreme level of competence and dedication, and out of sincere concern for society. I agree with his intentions and most of his assessments, and our possible slight disagreements cannot be resolved on twitter.

Also we are not idols. We are just people thrown into this universe at a particular starting point we did not choose, and then we always did the best we managed to do under the circumstances. Like everyone else.

I agree, idols might not be the right word but we seek relief in the knowledge that you guys share , this is a blessing for lot of us who because of fate are bound to less evolved communities.

I don't think that in the age of the internet, anyone is bound to any kind of community. We can find our own people and build our own culture as we see fit. As we all are doing.
