@Plinz My thoughts are that we need to prepare for the next epidemic, a more aggressive virus could destroy society. Tech solution: Develop mobile phones that can test for any virus, software updates can cover new viruses. Real time data would be game changer! Thoughts?

Not sure how a mobile phone would detect respiratory viruses, but perhaps a breathalizer that picks up on changes in the composition of exhaled air or on a set of antibodies might work if it could be deployed at scale on airports and public building entrances.

Technological advances are sometimes incredible, if we give 100 million reward to a group of people that solve the problem, it will be solved. Phones will detect viruses. (I think)

Are the Chinese lying about their numbers? The world seems divided on this, when compared to Italian numbers they seem to be off
-
Very unlikely. It's will not be possible to hide increasing numbers in the long run. China has not flattened the curve, they hammered it down.

I think this is true while dealing with a virus from the same family. What if the next one is completely different, longer incubation period, I higher R0 and a long slow death. That epidemic would be completely different, no?
