*None* of the present candidates is fit to lead the country during an actual crisis. Most don’t even have integrity; all of them are unable to think systemically and deeply understand what we are up against. The preselection process is totally broken.

Sanders isn't perfect, but I think he has shown he's well suited to lead.

I don't understand why Sanders fails to see the strong negative connotations of the word 'socialism' in the minds of most Americans. This gives me some doubt in his judgement, even though I may share too many cultural defaults with him to sufficiently criticize his limitations.

I fully agree with this point. However, I can only assume that it's not about him. It's about a movement. With this in mind, he could be trying to do more than win the Presidency. He could be trying normalize socialism in the US. With the youth voters, mission accomplished.

The idea to build a movement around 'socialism' in the US is bad even when you believe that almost everyone is still a boomer. Given that it's mostly associated with the countries that dissolved after they lost the cold war, it's a cursed meme

I disagree. He helped me read more about socialist theory. I went from Marx to Kropotkin and now I'm a libertarian Socialist. Additionally, many young voters now approve of socialism, according to many polls.

Yes, it is the privilege and beauty of youth to be wrong with passion, hubris and recklessness. But please also talk to people that actually lived in socialism and understand that real world people will not act on your ideals, but on what they consider to be their true incentives

Stalinism was a perversion of Marxism. However, I understand your point. Although, according to some polls, the majority of Russians want to go back to socialism. As to your point, perhaps, this is why he is differentiating the ideals of Socialism by mimicing social democracy

Yes, the oligarchy that formed after the crash of the Soviet Union played a very short game, making living conditions worse for a lot of people. But I doubt that you'd get a majority to vote for going back to the Brezhnev era. I trust Sanders' intentions but not his analysis.

That said, the form of capitalism that is practiced in the US seems to be wasteful, corrupted and shortsighted. There may even be alternatives, but the main contestant is Chinese national socialism right now.

Btw I found the positive resonance of Wakanda among the progressive left terrifying.

I didn't know it was wisely regarded among progressives. With that in mind, I would agree with you.

It just means that being politically passionate may correlate with being historically and economically illiterate.
