You will find that most premodern cultures have traditions that ask for planning seven generations into the future or so. Rapid technological process has ended this. Our bumbling search for spirituality is the phantom limb we formed after we amputated longtermist culture.

Perhaps this is something we will redisover. The discovery of new knowledge always changes things though. And the discovery of new knowledge is inherently unpredictable.
