To prevent hoarding, the surgeon general and the media have spread misinformation that masks won't protect you against the coronavirus. Studies show that surgical masks and N95 masks reduce the risk of infection with respiratory viruses! Please consider wearing masks in public.

No, I am member of a weird kind of mutant subspecies that is willing to think and decide for themselves. If you have a good study that contradicts me I am grateful, meanwhile I can point you at sources if you have not seen them.

And you imply I don’t think and decide for myself? How wonderfully presumptuous. I will not do your homework: since you cited nothing, but only gave your conclusion, it is impossible to have a rational scientific discussion with you.

Eg https://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2662657/ … (protecting against influenca infection), https://academic.oup.com/cid/article/49/2/275/405108 … (protecting others). Do you have a study that shows that masks are ineffective? This is no joking matter. Both anti mask propaganda in the US and hoarding will kill people.

You miss the point: you accused the surgeon general of intentional misinformation. That is the extraordinary claim for which you offer no evidence.

Christian Smith Retweeted U.S. Surgeon General
It's really not an extraordinary claim. See the Surgeon General's tweet. https://twitter.com/Surgeon_General/status/1233725785283932160?s=20 …. It would be more extraordinary if masks protected doctors but somehow couldn't protect the general public.
Christian Smith added,
U.S. Surgeon GeneralVerified account @Surgeon_GeneralSeriously people- STOP BUYING MASKS! They are NOT effective in preventing general public from catching#Coronavirus, but if healthcare providers can’t get them to care for sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk! http://bit.ly/37Ay6CmShow this thread1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
Grady got really angry over this; I don't think it's useful to go into this further with him. (He even unfollowed and probably muted me.)
