To prevent hoarding, the surgeon general and the media have spread misinformation that masks won't protect you against the coronavirus. Studies show that surgical masks and N95 masks reduce the risk of infection with respiratory viruses! Please consider wearing masks in public.

You miss the point: you accused the surgeon general of intentional misinformation. That is the extraordinary claim for which you offer no evidence.

It's really not an extraordinary claim. See the Surgeon General's tweet. https://twitter.com/Surgeon_General/status/1233725785283932160?s=20 …. It would be more extraordinary if masks protected doctors but somehow couldn't protect the general public.

Absolutely masks are effective under ideal hospital controlled conditions in 2009. Study says nothing about efficacy of masks used by public under impossible to control conditions, such as complete sealing of mask, etc.
