Back-of-the-envelope calculation about why "Flattening the Curve" cannot work in practice, and containment is necessary.https://medium.com/@joschabach/flattening-the-curve-is-a-deadly-delusion-eea324fe9727 …

"They mean to tell you that we can get away without severe lockdowns as we are currently observing them in China and Italy." I thought that 'flatten the curve' was an argument for why severe lockdowns (among other things) make sense.

The US is still not committed to containment. I don't think that it is possible to meaningfully flatten the curve without containment measures.

You totally missed the point of the #FlattenTheCurve movement. It advocates taking way more impactful steps than is currently done by governments and most people. Great job Einstein.

Content criticism actually works without attack on the personal level. I would give it a try. It really doesn't hurt.

He called me Einstein. I do not deserve to be called names, at least not this one. I am really not that smart :D

May or may not, we will figure that out later. But you and i and also everyone else know it wasnt meant as a compliment. Criticism is ok and mostly useful, but personal attacks are just bad style.

I agree, but it usually does not help to take personal attacks personal, and he was still pretty civil after all!

When someone wrote that my writing is terrible and he could not get past the first page, it hurt far more :) I thought: give me a break, I wrote this while two screaming children jumped up and down on me!

Children are great teachers. Especially when it comes to maintaining focus. And finally, constructive criticism is characterized by more than only complaining about the loss of this very focus. Even with texts from the children's room. :)
