I am not condescending, just estranged and appalled

I celebrate that you are self-aware of that state of being. A serious question: is this something you wish to change, or are content to remain, and be defined by being on your chosen side of the lock?

I don’t feel that I have a choice about this. I am trying the best I can do in this life.

Please know that I observe that you do have a choice. I have always found you to be intentional and introspective - both very powerful values - and seems to me that there is no law of physics that holds you back. The path will be hard, but it is not outside your reach.

Moreover, I am committed to playing the longest game and to serve civilization. But I don't see a path that leads me to merging with the general human hive mind, i.e. the present culture. It's the mind of a narcissist orkish monstrosity that violates truth and beauty.

I think the root of what you're getting at is "ignorance is bliss" once you're exposed to certain life experiences: knowledge, deep traumas, or otherwise, it's difficult to 'go back'.

But I do think it's possible to let your guard down and watch a game in a stadium, or go to a rave, and experience a kind of transcendent unity with your fellow humans, however alienating they may be usually. It's pretty healing

Btw I am immune to the stadium thing, it‘s probably at the core of my condition. The coarse frequency of stadium minds is alienating. Trauma experience is the opposite, because I can see traumata and the core of light in many of my fellow beings.
