Many people outside of our circles are still in a state of aggressive denial or in shock, or simply more optimistic. Also, few people alive remember a time when the government was proactive and competent. There is no shared vision of an alternative to the present mode.

On the plus side, the military has been preparing for situations like this and will make sure that the country gets through this if the civilian administration does not learn quickly enough. And we will likely come out of this stronger and better organized than before.

Last but not least, the internationally linked grassroots response of competent professionals and individuals on social media is incredible and unprecedented. A lot of folks are alerting communities, debating the ground truth, moderating the discourse and interfacing politics.

Yeah the sincerity and quality of the grassroots response here has been very heartening. But without leadership and actiom from the state, it amounts to a small fraction of its potential.

It does. I believe that we need to shape social media to mirror our actual structures of interaction in the working, social, cultural and administrative world, until social media becomes the sentient nervous system of the social organism.
