Definitely played a role when folks tried to introduce cleaning and security robots into the German market a few years ago. But I suspect that eventually the technology becomes cheap enough to undercut even the most coercive and subsidized types of labor, for most applications.

For the remaining specialist applications, the labor may become more expensive again, but the mass opportunity for employing low skilled labor is gone.
