Capitalism is stupid and I hate wealth disparity.

I grew up in a society with very little wealth disparity: individuals were not allowed to own factories or large businesses. Productivity and innovation were low. West Germany was our control group. When given the chance, the majority decided that capitalism was preferable.

Capitalism is certainly not an ideal society, but as an operating system for an industrial society, it seems to be much better than the alternatives, in terms of providing food security, physical security, individual freedom. US capitalism may need a reboot though.

Perhaps there are alternatives. A cybernetic utopia, as envisioned by Chile in the 1970ies? But even fascist China, deep state Russia or nepotist Brazil run versions of Capitalism today.

Capitalism is already very selectively applied in the US.

The core incentive principle of governance is broken, and most institutions seem to be senescent. An acute crisis may be necessary to rebuild them.
