Most atheism is fighting the wrong windmill. The confusion may have been avoided if ‘faith’ would be translated as a ‘sense’ instead of a ‘belief’. The relationship to self, meaning and reality is one of sensing the state we find ourselves to be in, not an ontological commitment.

Functionally, belief is a representation, while faith is code with write access on perception. When you ask yourself if your self is real, the self answers: 'yes, here I am'. Yet you know that the self is not a physical entity. It is a faith.
