Ideology is a form of mental disability. It lets the victim interpret the entire space of social interactions in terms of deviation from a single normative pattern, crippling the understanding of ethics, society, psychology, econ, politics, history, sexuality, and relationships.

Isn't ideology inescapable though if you dont practice it yourself? Are we still not subject to the ideologies that make up the societies we live in? And isn't "do as thou wilt" an ideology?

An ideology is a normative aesthetic. If you manage to stop caring intrinsically about norms while looking at a social system (think: ants or monkeys), you recognize a non ideological state. Make models independent of preferences.
