Don't judge people by their political opinions, judge them by the principles that govern their behavior. Most people have never chosen their opinions deliberately, because they never fully understood the available options.

A politician with principles that are strong enough to carry an entire political project into the real world is rare. The others will have to align themselves with whatever winds along their preferred directions can carry them.
