My main objections to discussing Greta, Abortion, Markets, Trans, etc... is that they represent huge conflations of different issues. Somehow, many friends seem to have a miraculously simple take on each of them. And, for whatever reason, I can't figure out how they get there.

I call it "Personal Gell-Mann amnesia". We understand that it takes enormous expertise to have a defensible opinion on the subjects we specialize in, but we are willing to fight over matters of public policy we don't really understand, with people that are equally incompetent.
