I think that voicing disapproval and not associating with people we disapprove of is healthy and often necessary. "Canceling" goes beyond that: it amounts to enforcing a general ban on approval of and association with a person, and is not sustainable in a pluralist society.
The whole point of the legal system is the non violent resolution of conflicts over the interpretation of rules. I don't see how you can resolve conflicts when jurisdictions compete rather than submit to a jointly accepted higher jurisdiction?

True, some rules might be unclear or conflicts unresolved. But the overall amount of violence and instability in the network could be less or different in character. I don't think we understand trade-offs between different types of societal violence very well.
