I have recently discovered that many people actually have an "inner voice" and they hear themselves talking when they think. Apparently, I am something of an outlier: I don't have any inner voice, perhaps similar to aphantasia (no visual imagery). Do you have an inner voice?

How can you think about something without knowing your thinking about something? Wonder if there is a study between personality traits and "inner voice."

I can know I'm thinking about something without knowing the name (the words) for what it is. I think in a combination of abstract concepts and images.

Mine's off by default and I turn it in when communicating with others or when thinking in words matters. Like if I'm thinking about lyrics, puns, clever ways to phrase something etc. Never noticed a difference in reaction time, though? Can you elaborate?
