I have not yet seen animated scores that capture the geometry of music adequately. They tend to give information over the score, not the actual musical structurehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddbxFi3-UO4 …

To me, the question is how and why would statistical structures acquire qualia, let alone choose one modality over another? People blind from birth see no visible qualia when their visual cortex is stimulated (they feel tactile sensation instead).

If I stimulate your texture buffer and it is only connected to tactile models, you will experience tactile features. If I stimulate the right geometry buffer, you may experience stuff in space. Experiencing visual qualia should require training the relationship between them.

I do not think that there can be, for example, a statistical structure in a program that will replace the need for a hardware screen. Even if we broadcast to the brain, that's a hardware physiology hack, not a statistical quale.

Thinking about echolocation also...it seems like the synesthetic qualia would be proprioceptive-tactile rather than automatically visual. I don't think that a color or photographic image could be echolocated.
