All of human history existed to enable a series of gradual insights, cultural circumstances and focused meditations that enable a singular moment of perfect cosmic lucidity. This moment took place several decades ago. Everything left is an afterimage of decaying consciousness.

It's really not important. The guy who saw it realized that it was over and became an alcoholic. We can only extrapolate the time around which it happened, because the universe clearly stopped trying to get anywhere.

It seems clear that since human prehistory, our dim understanding of nature, mind, consciousness and general cosmology accumulated exponentially, flared up brightly after the enlightenment, went nova in the 20th century, reached an absolute peak in the 1970ies and... fizzled out.
