Is consciousness generated by the brain? The brain is an object that appears inside of consciousness. Likewise the minecraft server cannot exist inside the minecraft world, but must be independent of it.

Yes I remember these great talks. Due to a strange identity shift I would tend to monist idealism with me/us being the mind on a higher plane, experiencing partitioned 'dreamed' existences as physical humans, animals, cells, molecules as well as earlier stages of its evolution.

It appears to me that there is (weak) evidence for joint real-time mental activity outside of brains. Turing 1950 notes it too, and got maligned for it. I don't know if it's real and if so what it implies. I don't think it implies that brains cannot be independently conscious.
