I've read the big "The Information" book by James Gleick. And I don't believe that the unexpected part of the message is the only thing that's considered information, I do see that that's the interesting part of a message to us. But I use "information" in the sense of pattern.
You don’t always see the difference between art and kitsch. There is a particular way in which you are already identified as seeing the world, which prevents you from actually looking. I find it unbearable.

The difference between art and "kitsch" is in the eye of the beholder.

The fact that you cannot tell the difference between art and kitsch makes your philosophy revolting to me. (I would not react so strongly if you would not force kitsch into most of our interactions.)

Art is emotional creation. Playing with experiences to generate novel experiences. (The best of Twitter.) Craft is emotional preservation. Trying to record/convey past experiences effectively. I strongly disagree, Turil. Art is capturing conscious states. It is the practice of observation, independent of application. The generation of emotional states is an application. Kitsch is an uncanny valley around art, where the truth criterion is replaced by emotional valence.

As for the reality that is me, and how you view that reality, and how it affects you, I'm sorry that it feels unbearable to you. I always wonder if there is something that you'd like to change, or if it's actually a good thing that you react so negatively to my stories.

I find the idea of tapestry incompatible with being able to build and combine things Our world demands stale outputs and promises final answers, tapestries which I avoid But if the goal were to appreciate things, we'd be healthier But that's like the tapestry thinking I avoid
