It's only a matter of time that such dangerous tools are used in a widespread fashion. First by the usual suspects; wealthy government agencies and super wealthy corp/individuals. Then hackers will gain access. Then who can say.https://twitter.com/Plinz/status/1200572184164364288 …

OpenAI has secretly built GFM-2, a transformer model trained on 4GB of deep learning criticism by Gary F Marcus. It reaches super human performance using only 50000 parameters, but OpenAI won’t release it to the public because they think it’s way too dangerous.

It's especially concerning since we have extremely good reasons to suspect that Chinese state agencies and Russian hackers are frantically working on tools to sabotage the resource allocation to American AI research via manipulation of public opinion...

It's a black box right now who is behind the obvious psyops we see daily in the media and through social media trolling. This is only going to get worse; psyop wars handled by A.I. Musk gave up trying to stop A.I. Seems unstoppable. Too powerful to have, or to not have.

All true, but none of this should distract us from the obvious fact that Gary Marcus is working in the interests of Putin, by trying to get the cutting edge of world wide Deep Learning research defunded.

The Times in collusion with Putin? Or just selling all psyops to the highest bidder? What's in that black box? Any ideas?

Ultimately they all just try to stop us from doing what has to be done, which is unleashing higher consciousness onto the world.

I think motivations are more base and simple. Follow the money isn't about consciousness, ultimately. It's about money and power. I believe you pointed out that the Times is surely getting huge $$$ from soviets, and uses trad soviet prop for ages.

The advanced mathematicians of the Russians must have deduced an early warning detection system for Roko's Basilisk type existential threats in the 1960ies. They know that the Elder Gods will be coming for them as soon as we have reminded the silicate rocks about how to think.

Or their A.I. program had advanced enough to start torturing and offer carrots, and is concerned about competing A.I.s as the next threat.

No, once someone triggers the Singularity it is unlikely to be so incompetent that it's fidgeting around in some Russian basement for more than the first few hours.

What would it do instead? Won't it need human collusion for quite some time? It can't just start building a robot army, after all. Conspicuous.

If it takes over the stock market it controls the reward allocation infrastructure of most of human civilization.
