Dogmatism is the means by which those extremely sensitive to other's perceptions vigorously signal their allegiance to the ingroup. The cure is self-confidence.

That's exactly the opposite of what happens. People who have earned self-confidence have the foundation to expose themselves to disagreement. Like people who have more time or money can take more risks.

Do you build self-confidence based on autonomously evaluated performance or based on the demonstrated agreement of others? (There may be socioeconomic reasons to not expose yourself to disagreement, of course.)
