Human infants and primates have more natural moral integrity than cats, but I suspect our natural state as social animals is does not make us morally autonomous by default. Our family would make us morally dependant on them long before cults and nations influence us, right?

Not everybody was born with the altruism gene. Altruism (moralistic/ethical altruism) is part of emotional intelligence. IQ & EQ both are an inheritance. Repetitive behavior/collective habits that create a culture of a nation through the centuries might alter the genes.
