I think the confusion about the Hard Problem of Consciousness results from people's intuition that they live in the physical world, not in a software simulation. It is not hard to see how software can represent the illusion of being a person, and how software can move your body.

Ever had a dream so lucid, that you realized that the dreamer of the dream was dreaming his identity? I have. The most delicious mind fuckery of all time.

I had a dream many years ago that suggested just that. I've been hearing about this simulation theory alot lately but cant seem to find any information on the math behind it. I'm very interested. Would you please suggest some reading material?

Mostly, 'simulation theory' comes up in the context of the physical universe being a simulation. This is not what I mean. You can look up some of my youtube talks, like Ghost in the Machine, for what I tried to express here.

What's the role of the environment in the production of the dream? I'd argue that the dream is emergent from a feedback loop between brain and environment. Which is where physicality comes in.

Which strongly depends on other dreams of other Monkeys. There must be some kind of material connector.
