Easy. If earth did not have an anti moon made from dark matter, the unilateral pull of the rotating moon would let the earth-moon system go out of whack and spiral out of solar orbit. The difference of moon gravitation acting on a connected body of water and a connected body of earth is largest at the points most distant from the earth moon line. The force difference sums up over the connected body of water. What am I getting wrong?

There is indeed a difference, but ist very very very small and not the cause for tides.

On the poles the gravitational force-vector points (almost) to center of earth, on equator closest to moon it points to moon and farthest from moon it points away from moon. Since water is a fluid, these tiny forces sum up and squeezes water to equator. The dry land can't move.
