That doesn't make it a historical moment though. Of course, it might still be. Let's see what he comes up with.

I was a little bit tongue in cheek; many epiphanies that manifest after a long Friday night don't survive the weekend, many brilliant solutions to the hardest problems break once try to implement them. But if it works out (which I sincerely hope!), you heard it here first. :)

If we speaking about replicating the behavior of a human then I can see why it'll be difficult to do without the same substrate. However, that doesn't imply you can't replicate useful general intelligence algorithms using other substrates.

To use a tired analogy. You don't need flapping and feathers to build machines that fly. We already have machines that do logic and we didn't need to replicate human brains to do this.

Let's hope he doesn't have a "proof by contradiction"! If he does, then we instantly will know what's wrong with it.

Let's hope he has a good definition of GI too.

So, the human mind can’t be replicated in a computer? Does that invalidate the premise of the Simulation Hypothesis? That soon we will have computer simulations which are indistinguishable from reality? Someone should DM Elon Musk and let him know.
