I think that you may be a bit too pussyfooted when you make your points. While it is virtuous to avoid overstating one's position, you should also not understate the degree of your certainty. If an argument is more tenable than another, we owe it to present it as strong as it is.

Also, it places something (conceptualization via a mechanistic picture) which is posterior in a false light: that it doesn't necessitate the Senses/Experience to find accretion over time. It's fundamentally dishonest about how Dishonest We Must Be To Do Science.

The biggest issue with your version of it is that it seems to just assert that a "story" is this magical VR world that exists in certain systems, and somehow it defines the space of possible qualitative experiences. How? Story Illusionism has its own Hard Problem.
