Note: If you're visited by an actual future self (and can discount food poisoning) it's a good/bad situation: * on the one hand, you seem to be successful enough to be able to develop/afford time travel * on the other hand: you're probably warning yourself of a great disaster.

That is why I advise to look for *successful* future selves, not those with horrible scars and haunted eyes. We can only find them in other people, and if we are correct, they will reach out to support their past self.
