Greta doesn't know what to look at or not; and if she did, could she?

I think that she knows what to look at, but perhaps she has not looked long enough yet. Or it is me who looked too long. And you know what they say about staring into the abyss.

We probably can't, because they are part of systems that may be able to outmodel us. But if the shamans are to be believed, plants know how to communicate to us, if they choose to. In which case they may tell us about our place in their plan, if they find it useful.

She’s looking at it from the humans perspective not nature’s perspective

Yes, I have been ashamed for being born human for such a long time. I wonder if we can begin to make peace with the whole being-a-transitional-species thing, and can eventually move beyond denial, bargaining, anger and sadness.

Negative utilitarians would disagree with this as a good outcome - the creation of more life is not per se good. Alas, with the Hedonistic Imperative perhaps it will be a good event after all. Ultra-blissful super-intelligent "excess" carbon can't sound bad :)

Once you realize that all life on earth is effectively a single super organism, fully generated by the first cell (of which every cell in existence has split off), you can maintain a coherent perspective in which more life is good.

That’s a more elaborate version of George Carlin’s “You know why the earth created humans? Plastics! It just needed plastics and didn’t know how to build it on its own.”.
-
Plastics are a problem because they are even harder to break down than wood (which required the evolution of insects).

Greta' s message is at least coherent. This tweet misses obvious points in an epic way. I know that's harsh, but I think it's fair.

Can you explain?
