My view is that Stu’s arguments are neither right nor wrong, they’re vague, obvious, and feed a hysteria that is truly counter-productive of a real debate. They’re definitely not contributing positively to the debate (offering solutions or ideas). They’re a waste of a great mind.

I agree that there is little utility in stoking public hysteria about existential risk, unless we think that we would benefit from regulation against potential future autonomous systems in the US. But I also agree with him that the popular denialism is intellectually unjustified.
