If you do a thing for which even meek opportunists call you "brave" and "courageous" in public, you are probably neither. Being brave means to stand for what you think is right, even though you'll have to pay a price. (Today's unpopular opinion: Scarlett Johansson is brave.)
I don't know Woody Allen in person. Like the court, his son and his friends, I don't think it very plausible that he raped his small adoptive daughter during a visit in the middle of very hostile divorce proceedings, but I cannot know, of course.
