I agree with the general line of your argument: the degree of self actualization that you can negotiate tends to depend on economic freedom. But few people are free, most need to continuously sell their labor to others. This might mean that you have to frame your argument.

The purpose of creating economic units in which men contribute more to the household income than women is the creation of a space to raise children, on which all societies depend. Increased participation of women in the labor force allows women to negotiate self actualization.

It also increases productivity of society, and opportunity for the state to control the socialization of children via daycare/schools. On the other hand, it may lead to fewer functional family units, shrinking populations (fewer children), and more pressure on labor markets.

I agree with you that many families are dysfunctional, and domestic abuse and exploitation of economic dependence constitute serious harm. I also agree with your main argument. Societies should not discriminate by gender, race, sexual orientation, and we should work against that.
