Today’s shower thought: since almost all real numbers are irrational, it seems surprising that the answer to life, the universe, and everything is a natural number.

Math nitpick incoming... not all irrational numbers are uncomputable. The square root of 2, e, and pi are all irrational yet computable. It’s the other way around - all uncomputable numbers are irrational

Yes, they are computable in the sense that you can give an algorithm that would compute them if you had infinite time and resources. They are not computable by any machine that could be implemented.

I'm not sure about the 'as a result'. Can you elaborate on this deduction?

Causality is an aspect of describing the progression of the state vector of the universe by separate systems that each have their own transition function and an interface to other systems, though which they cause changes. No system can actually compute an irrational value.

On the contrary, friend. You’re making a big mistake by not understanding that an irrational number can easily be a result of a function. The thing that appears as “uncomputable” to you is merely a limitation of modern computer architecture. You are just a bit confused :)

The assumption that something can execute an algorithm with infinitely many operations in a finite number of steps leads to contradictions. This is why most mathematicians seems to have become constructivists after Gödel and Turing. Constructive math is computation.

I don't understand the admixture of sacredness and science. How does the search for truth improve if you bring incense into the room?

You can only tweet this because e to the i pi is minus one (AC power equations)

No, it is sufficient that this is a good approximation. Euler's identity is a statement about the convergence of infinite series.
