Yes, but no such “proof” exists. Thus our conundrum. 
It makes more sense once you notice that physical reality is not "stuff in space" (res extensa). The stuff in space is the domain of perceptual representations, which are mapped in the mind into a single dynamic 3space, and exists next to thoughts and feelings (res cogitans).

I’m not arguing against the internal logical consistency of dualism - Descartes was a smart cookie, obviously. I’m arguing against the usefulness of dualism as a practical matter. The logical destination of dualistic ideology is nihilism.

Spinoza is much more appealing to me, and I find his models of dual aspect monism to be much more useful and more logically consistent with objective reality.
