If you find yourself emotionally unable to understand a conflict without taking sides, you probably don't understand the conflict. Of course, understanding a conflict does not preclude you from taking sides.

I wouldn't care to apply that rule of thumb to matters of grave injustice?

In one sense, justice is a set of codified algorithms to arbitrate conflicts in a society. In another, it is the expression of social values. In the latter sense, the sensation of injustice depends on socialization.

Iow stoning a cheating wife to death doesn’t necessarily mean that the husband isn’t justified to do this.Bc of his constructed cultural morals and ethics this would make perfect sense and therefor it’s justified in his mind and therefor he is not guilty .

Back then, the size of a society was limited by social cohesion and how many children they could feed. I suppose that their norm designers figured that the instability created by stoning adulterers was preferable to the instability created by adultery?

Love won’t safe the world though. Practical logic will. Which isn’t empathetic. I believe this will be the future. I believe this was also the motives of the past.

I don’t personally share the mindset of a person that wants their adulterous partner killed, but evidently such moral intuitions fall into the normal human range and might be evolutionarily adaptive in certain contexts (not ours).

It’s the main reason why it’s so hard to integrate different cultures in one country. It takes time.
