True. And for some things quite inflexible. Eg not much you could do to make (most) people not want sex. Or sweets. But other wants/beliefs seem much more adaptable in real time. IMO political ideologies. Moral intuitions, passions, principles... *largely* latter. 1/2

My approach (and cult evo/learning approaches more generally) useful primarily for understanding latter. Evo psych better for former imo. But important distinction. Agree. Worth knowing when to use what/limitations of each. IMO. 2/2

There also seems to be an evolutionary selection toward seeking power to overcome evolutionary reward selection. Why would reward experiences evolve in the first place when it would be much more parsimonious to have physical behaviors evolve to execute unconsciously?
