smh. Sci-fi. And we are not anywhere close to being capable of producing such an AI. But the BELIEF that we are close to producing an AI is critically important - the funding must flow. Gotta pay the bills, after all.

Why does biological matter to the intelligence part? Who is the “we” of “our doom”? Humans?

The problem with governance is that the true incentives of the governor are usually not perfectly aligned with governing well. A long lived biological intelligence that depends on being fed and protected by humanity seems to be more easy to align with our survival than techno AI.
