Maybe tumors are just a normal thing that happens when a system ages, small mutations and disregulations accumulate, and its control structure loses coherence. Many US institutions carry weird growths (we sometimes point to cost disease). Aging and death make room for new things.

As we age we accumulate more waste in cells and we can pass more damaged cells to the offspring. In that sense it’s not clear how aging increases adaptation. Repairing could be chosen over aging to guarantee unlimited functioning and healthier offspring. Is it more costly, how?

We pass only two cells on to the offspring.
