There's an obvious concern about overpopulation giving it to everyone, but looking at Europe, it seems like there are social mechanisms in place that regulate population size anyways.

This would probably cause the world to become way more conservative though. We'd be basically turning into Tolkien's elves, but with an industry.

Answer would entirely depend on the mechanism of action, particularly with respect to the doubling of lifespan. Anything that biologically powerful would be prone to horror-movie-esque misuse.

What if it has just the intended result, i.e. curing diseases and doubling the biological lifespan of everyone who can afford it or gets access to it somehow?
