We will pass our computing civilization into the hands of kids that have their brains burnt out by Scratch programming, in the same way as Excel destroyed the cognition of the economic castes. Write transpilers between Scratch and all relevant languages before it's too late!

I genuinely believe Scratch serves as a good introduction to programming but if you allow people to use it for more than a year or so then you'll just kind of break their minds I guess.

I am still undecided whether it is a harmless toy that inspires a vague idea of programming, or whether it is a Lovecraftian horror disguised as chewing gum wrappers

I think the core problem to understand when learning how to program is to make the machine do things, all the things, rather than how to arrange for-loops and increment parameters. Scratch gives you only a sandbox, and the programming experience itself is tedious, not joyful.
