I am now wondering if the concept of entirely separate moral universes, each of which dies with its owner, is a temporary developmental state towards genuine moral intuition or a permanent enlightenment into some branch of highly functional sociopathy.

"Reasoning" (moral or otherwise) occurs within a specific limited-experience world with its specific landscape of peaks, valleys, and everything in between. The monarch of the world can, of course, reshape parts of the landscape at will, if the logic jars wrt some meta-peak.
