Ever wonder why so many species of hominins went extinct in the last 100000 years? Well, they met us. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/10/science/homo-luzonensis-philippines-evolution.html …

Oh, and btw there was a population bottleneck ca 70000 years ago: we all go back to a few thousand individuals that lived back then. Part of it may be due to the Mt Toba eruption, and part may be due to our ancestors being a bunch of highly efficient genocidal maniacs?

Perhaps in those times it was necessary to have homicidal maniacs around to protect the tribe .With reason we should be beyond that now ... not everybody evolved .. yet.

Hmm.. I also think aggression is needed for survival...just look at viruses. So perhaps it’s innate in us as well.

Even if you are among those that have bred the joy of killing out of them: what if they want your children's lunch for their children, and either yours or theirs will have to starve? And your tribe has developed military technology, such as religion, and your tribe is chosen now?

So aggression is still needed to protect. ...But who knows if what we are protecting is good ?..perhaps we are the virus that has destroyed humanity as it was. The most aggressive forms survive .

There is no essential humanity that once was. There are no identities. There is only the evolution of the state vector of the universe.
