.@Plinz If a database had bits representing each neuron in your brain, and a complete record of 1’s and 0’s (active/inactive) at each moment in your life...would running through those states recreate your conscious experience?

Let's not get into details of causal contributions of synaptic vesicles and glia; IMHO the question is then similar to: if you had a database that had bits representing all the gates of your computer, would running through a state sequence recreate a minecraft world?—yes and no!

Some details: we emerge not over states but over transitions. We don't emerge within the substrate, but within a story that is spun by the substrate, with respect to an interpreter that is implemented by the substrate.

I think the idea that verbs describe transitions or actions is a misconception. They denote *situations* relative to an agent (during which a transition or action can take place).
