There is very little philosophy that deals with problems that people actually have in productive ways. Most of philosophy tries to sort out problems caused by other philosophy. (That’s not meant to be a criticism.)

Yes. Today civilisation is interested in so many problems, and people are working on them from all kinds of institutions and frameworks. We are too often ignorant of discovered knowledge that would have us avoid common philosophical errors.

The humanities are dead, and the sciences have calcified into methodologies. It seems we have lost much of our toolset for collective intelligence.
