There is very little philosophy that deals with problems that people actually have in productive ways. Most of philosophy tries to sort out problems caused by other philosophy. (That’s not meant to be a criticism.)

If it were more common to study the history of science and philosophy we'd be far more forgiving of mistakes and crazy ideas. They are the fuel that moves us forward in a messy unpredictable and often adversarial fashion.

It seems to me that the contemporary “we” lost it’s potency as a civilizational intellect. Today’s “thinkfluencers” seem to be like children that no longer fully understand the institutions of thought and governance that their grandparents and greatgrandparents built for them
