It's worse. We experience that we don't act in a timeshifted fashion, but in actuality, simultaneously with our perception. The implied retrocausality means that our experience of a now is a fabrication, not just a memory.

Our mind seems to operate over a state vector. It learns that some of these states can be more or less directly controlled by the mind, and we call these mental states. Those that don't budge are perceptual states, and can mostly be compressed into what we call the environment.
