Coherentism seems a dangerous philosophical position to fall into. Not only is it prone to preferring local optima over exploration of other possibilities. Once applied to its own epistemology it can quickly degrade into "every belief that does not lead to harm for me is true".
Interesting point. It seems so self evident to most people who start reflecting about this that the frame of identification ends with the viability of the observing system, which leads to the tendency to develop a desire for immortalization.
