Well, nirodha "cessation" is only ever a temporary state in traditional texts. The cessation of rebirth was nirvāṇa "extinction". And there was only ever "nothing left" after you died pari-nirvāṇa, pari here being a prefix indicating completion.

Yes, and “full” awakening—if anything like that exists—is only a temporary moment of extinction as well. A moment of nothing left.
