The claim here is that minds are more limited than mathematics (as a whole, beyond type theory). And therefore predictable by themselves? (No; early result that kicked off complexity in CS!)

PS absolutely Palo Alto is majority functionalist—they think minds can not only be simulated by machines, but that mind is machine (perhaps one with a computery feel).

Most people *anywhere* are naive mind-brain dualists. Maybe for everyday legal/ethical reasoning, that's better than being a confused functionalist. On the other hand, I'd wager that most people who know what "functionalism" means are functionalists.
